The purpose of this website is to both help and implore you to grow as a conscious and human being and recovering addict.
What does that mean to you?
It means that as a human you have been blessed – gifted – with conscious awareness. Because of this awareness you are meant to live life on a higher level than what your primitive biology might lead you to believe.
Addiction and relapse are frightening and unfortunate realities for so many. Every addict and recovering addict feels as if their cravings and addictions control them completely. But you are more than merely a moral animal” that can’t overcome these baser urges and vulnerability to addiction.
More Than Your Run-of-the-Mill “Inspiration” or “Motivation”
This website is dedicated to doing more than being “inspiring” or “motivating.” We surpass the effort to only inspire and motivate because we realize that inspiration and motivation are feelings that are fleeting and unstable. When the feelign of motivation subsides after you’ve set a new goal, what happens next?
When the feeling of inspiration leaves your body and mind, what do you do next?
A New Solution to an Old Problem…
To truly live life after addiction we must go beyond gaining inspiration and motivation. To live clean, sober, and alive should be our aim. And to live a life of higher awareness and to be a source of empowerment to those in need.
This requires us to live according to a new guiding principle: To live conscientiously – Living life conscientiously means transcending the misconceived limiting beliefs that hold us back by choosing to deliberately re-create ourselves – who we are and who we think we are – through the process of personal growth and development.
Helping you grow as a conscious human being is about more than helping you merely think differently… It’s about helping you discover how to live differently altogether.
Setting oneself on the path to a clean, fulfilling, and free life is what we all desire. The one true path to this is to always seek conscious personal growth, excellence, development, and contribution. When we take our eyes and attention from this endeavor we too easily slide back down the slippery slope of relapse.
Over the years I’ve consumed more books than I can remember and taken more courses than I could afford on everything regarding personal development, spiritual growth, neuroscience, health, fitness and lifestyle, relationships, and psychology in order to improve who I am all in the name of being a better person.
Yet, as Eckhart Tolle so aptly professes, “Thinking without awareness is the main dilemma of human existence.” (A quote from his book, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose)
And so while all of these the books I read and the courses I’ve taken have been great assets in my own personal growth and have added some degree of value to my life in their own way, the greatest strides in growth and my subsequent success in relapse prevention are not the by product of mere “positive thinking” but in complete and total shifts in conscious awareness; in shifting your perception and understanding of reality.
My life transformation and overcoming addiction didn’t come from reading books or attending seminars, per se. It came from another place – a place from deep within. A realization, if you will. A transformational shift in consciousness.
This realization was that I would always be oscillating between feeling lost and feeling free – between the pull to use drugs and alcohol to escape a reality I didn’t want to face and living sober and free – unless a profound, lasting change took place. And that change happens only when we are ready, willing, and able to accept it.
This change must take place from within. It takes place within the conscious mind. And only the path to personal development and mastery can lead us to it.
I’m not proclaiming “enlightenment”; rather, experience and understanding from a result of that experience. This is why I am devout in helping others achieve this same realization and lifestyle, to embrace the philosophy of “optimal living.”
For you and me, this means:
- Leading & guiding you to discover and accept your life purpose and passions…
- Inspiring you to feel more motivated, energized, and engaged in life…
- Helping you shed dis-empowering and/ or destructive relationships and build a network of loving support…
- Empowering you to live a life on your own terms – a life of personal freedom & liberation…
- Coaching you through the difficulties and plateaus of personal growth in order to find and embrace your own meaning of optimal living…
You are NOT here on this earth to struggle and suffer. Despite the gloom-and-doom influence of mass media and many pessimistic individuals that may surround you, you are not meant to suffer and hide behind drugs, sex, food, or any other addiction.
You’re here to express and share your creative gifts, your story, your voice. You’re here to receive love, and to be happy – to feel joy and gratitude.
As an addict or recovering addict, it’s likely that your life has been riddled with strife and hardship. It may be difficult for you to accept or embrace what you learn from my articles and podcasts. But you can do it if you truly want to. It will take time, but this site can certainly help you get there, and the vast majority of resources here are FREE – no strings attached.
I’ll Be the First To Admit It…
Personal development is hard work. It’s equally as hard as staying sober merely by virtue of free will. It takes time, consistency, and patience. If you’re only here looking for shallow quick fixes (or “life hacks”) but aren’t interested in real, lasting change, this isn’t the right place for you. This site is designed for people who are serious about committing to personal growth and taking control of their life.
This site will help you learn to live more consciously, to find the courage to face the most fearful parts of your life and conquer the darkest corners of your mind; to help you solve the deep problems you’ve not yet been able to solve. You’ll learn practical ideas to make important changes in your life, both big and small, so you can get your life on track and start living up to your true potential.
Progress Not Perfection
This site can’t teach you to be perfect. I can’t teach you to be perfect either. Heck, I’m far from it myself. Perfection isn’t the point though. The point is for you to get yourself onto a path of practical, positive growth and sustain it. This site will be of tremendous assistance to you on your journey along that path.
The focus of this site – and what should be your focus as well – is progress, not perfection.
Perfection, insofar as human beings are concerned, would mean to exist in a state wherein nothing about you could be improved upon. I don’t think that’s very realistic.
Perfection is an illusion. And striving to achieve perfection is an illusory goal, a delusional life. Declare with me to let go of that limiting belief, to lift the veil of that illusion – this erroneous idea that you must be perfect in some way. We must focus on progress, which is the essence of all growth and positive change, therefore, personal growth.
